"New Teams" in Windows 2019 RDSH environment with FSLogix profiles
Recently Microsoft released FSLogix hotfix 4 to address critical issues with "New Teams" in RDSH environments. This was super important to those of us that are affected by the upcoming June 30th deadline to implement "New Teams". I've noted some real issues that have yet to be resolved, and I have an open support case where I have clearly documented the issues we are facing. However, the support folks at LTIMindtree have for the past 6 weeks been 'escalating' the issue and 'waiting for a resource to be assigned' to the ticket. I keep telling them that we have a June 30th deadline, but they don't seem able to help despite the looming deadline. I'm curious as to whether or not Microsoft has been made aware of the ongoing issues with deploying "New Teams" on Windows 2019 using FSLogix profiles? Noting that we are battling: Teams occasionally does not start automatically, and in that circumstance Teams can't be started by the user. The only resolution is to sign out, then sign in. This has become noticeably better with FSLogix hotfix 4, but it is not 100% yet. We are still affected by this although much less frequently than before hotfix 4 was released. Some user preferences are not captured and stored in the user's FSLogix profile container. One specific example is the "Links open preference". If a user selects a specific browser, that setting is not captured and stored in the profile. It is therefore reverted to default during the next session login. This is just a single example to demonstrate the issue, not a complete list. I'm wondering whether or not anyone in the Microsoft Teams group is aware of the fact that there are MSP's out there that have real, legit technical issues and are facing a Microsoft imposed deadline without any real 'fixes' or solutions. At this point, we've been forced to communicate to our customers basically saying "Sorry, but Microsoft is forcing this upgrade and hasn't yet addressed these issues that we are aware of". Is there anyone else in the same boat?TreyContelloJun 17, 2024Copper Contributor4.6KViews0likes8CommentsInability for External Presenters to Manage Breakouts is hurting our business in the L&D industry
I've raised this topic in various forums and at numerous conferences over the years, but I'm hoping we can initiate a productive dialogue here. We operate in the L&D space, offering corporate training support for global clients across over a dozen platforms, and have been doing so since the days of Skype. Whether it's WebEx, Adobe Connect, Zoom, or another platform, the process is generally straightforward. We receive host rights, and we’re set to go. However, Microsoft Teams is an exception. From the beginning, conducting training sessions as an external vendor on Teams has been extremely challenging. Despite some improvements over the years, one critical piece of functionality is still missing: external users cannot manage breakout rooms. This oversight is severely impacting our business, as well as many other small businesses like ours, as our corporate clients transition to Teams. Many organizations move to the Microsoft ecosystem partly due to their InfoSec policies, making the issuance of internal organization credentials difficult and often necessitating additional hardware. It's not just external vendors who are frustrated. Many of our clients, including the L&D departments of Fortune 500 companies, have actively opposed their companies' transition to Teams. We want to embrace these transitions and even endorse and encourage them. Is this functionality on the roadmap? Who do we need to speak to, or what actions are required to fully address this issue? We are eager to discuss the friction points of using Teams for training from the perspective of a company that has facilitated and supported hundreds of thousands of trainings across every major platform over the last decade. Your thoughts and insights would be greatly appreciated.JBealesJun 17, 2024Copper Contributor1.8KViews8likes7CommentsReplacing onmicrosoft
Hello - I recently purchased and installed Office 365 E3 (work or school) licenses for my consulting practice and a friend, client, and fellow small business owner. We would both prefer to use our legacy email address removed for privacy reasons address as our primary username, Outlook email & Calendars instead of the name@domain.onmicrosoft.com configuration assigned while creating the E3 accounts. I am a domain admin for both accounts and understand it may require editing DNS records. I would like to configure my own account and test the functionality on both Windows PC AND Mac devices before making similar changes for my client. Can someone please point me to the appropriate resource for getting this done quickly and effectively with minimal disruption. Thank you.GBMCMontyMay 17, 2024Copper Contributor651Views0likes2CommentsProblem with some external guests access in Teams using MFA
We have some guest users, from different Home tenants, that have problems logging in to our tenant with MFA when using Edge web browser. It works fine when they are using InPrivate in Edge, another device or another web browser. When we check their settings in our Entra everything looks correct. We have not changed any policies or settings and it is not all the guest user from the same Home tenant the have this issue, for most of the guest users from the same Home tenants it works fine accessing our tenant with MFA while a few guest users from the same company/ Home tenant have this issue. It is almost as if there is a clash between their home tenant AAD user, Microsoft Edge, and the guest user in our AAD. Does anyone have some recommendations och solutions to this issue?anneuman71Jun 27, 2024Copper Contributor382Views0likes1CommentIn a New Teams application I only see teams of organisationsI am guest in.
